Welcome to the Catholic community of Annunciation Roman Catholic Parish, Church and School.

We are a Roman Catholic Parish within the Diocese of Raleigh, North Carolina with approximately 700 families. We have over 40 ministries, committees, groups, and organizations. Our campus includes Annunciation Catholic School, founded in 1954 with approximately 115 students in pre-K and grades K-8.

Students not attending Annunciation Catholic School attend faith formation classes on Sunday mornings during the school year. All high school aged youth are invited to participate in total youth ministry, which includes service, social activities, and faith building.

This is our Annunciation Catholic Parish Website. As you browse around, please take the time to send an e-mail message to our webmaster, especially if you have any suggestions or comments about content or format.

Today is our Bishop’s Annual Appeal (BAA) in-pew solicitation. Our goal this year is $77,625, just a thousand more than last year. I am glad to report that we went over our goal last year and I am confident that we will surpass it this year as well. This year’s theme - “Stewards of God’s Gifts”- fits well with what we have been doing here at Annunciation to emphasize stewardship. God calls all of us to share the gifts of time, talent and treasure. Not only do we do this within our parish, but as the Bishop reminds us in his letter, we are called to also share our bounty to help those in need across our Diocese and to further the work of Jesus Christ. I want to thank all those who do just that. Job well done, good and faithful steward!

In today's Gospel, we find Jesus fishing from Simon's boat. Jesus turns to Simon and instructs him where to lower the fishing nets. Simon and others have been fishing all night and have caught nothing. Simon protests, claiming that such an effort would be futile. But as we know, nothing is ever futile with Jesus. Simon obeys Jesus and lowers his nets into the deeper water as directed. Notice: Peter calls Jesus “Master.” He already recognizes Jesus as a person of authority. They catch so many fish that the nets begin to tear; Jesus' presence has created an abundance out of nothing, just as he did at the wedding feast at Cana, which we heard just a few weeks ago.

Today, Jesus is not so much interested in finding fish as He is in the people whom He chose to be His closest friends - His disciples - where we see many of the characteristic foibles of ordinary human beings. We also see the ways that God uses the gifts he gave us to transform us into new people, the agents through whom God will lead others to Jesus and to His kingdom. Let us pray that we will use God’s gifts wisely.

Happy 100th Birthday to the Scouts!!

Important - Action Required

Please read today's bulletin insert from the US Conference of Catholic Bishop's on Health Care Reform.

Read USCCB Action Alert

There are three areas of concern:

  1. a change in our current federal law that would result in mandatory federal funding for abortions,
  2. inadequate access to health care for the poor and immigrants, and
  3. mandates which would force Catholic health care professionals and Catholic medical institutions to provide abortions and other unethical procedures in violation of our beliefs.

Please contact your US Representative and Senators to voice your opposition to this reform legislation.
